Abstract

Avocado (Persea americana Mill) is a plant that has the effect of incresing spatial memory. Spatial memory is the ability to remember spase, recognize shape, distance and area, and knowing the direction or position. The purpose of this research is to determine the effect of giving avocado leaves extract toword spatial memory and to determine the effective dose of ethanol extract of avocado leaves which can have activity increases the spatial memory in white mice. This research using 2 parameters namely latency time and % B errors. This research used 25 white mice which we’re divided into 5 groups namely negatif control (Aquadest), positive control (Ginkgo biloba 9,75 mg/kg BB mice), ethanol extract of avocado leaves with doses of 56, 112, 224 mg/kg BB mice. Induction using lead (II) acetate at a dose of 14 mg/kg BB mice intraperitonially for one day. The result showed that giving avocado leaves extract can increase spatial memory where latency time increase and % B errors decrease in white mice induced by plumbun (II) acetate. The effective dose of avocado leaves extract that can increase spatial memory is 56 mg/kg BB mice. . Keyword : Spatial memory, avocado leaves extract, latency time, dan % B errors
