Abstract

Every individual has various problems in life. Individuals who are able to overcome problems have good adversity intelligence. Adversity intelligence is a determinant for individuals to endure difficulties and be able to control problems. Individuals who are able to survive and control various problems must first understand themselves. This is known as self compassion which is a feeling of mercy and understanding of oneself. Individuals who understand themselves well will be able to solve problems faced. This study aims to determine the relationship between self compassion and adversity intelligence on people with disabilities in Social Rehabilitation Center for People with Physical Disabilities (BBRSPDF) Prof. Dr. Soeharso Surakarta. The hypothesis proposed is that there is a positive relationship between self compassion and adversity intelligence. This study uses quantitative methods and sampling uses purposive sampling technique. The research subjects were 72 people with disabilities. The measuring instrument used consists of two, namely the scale of self compassion and the scale of adversity intelligence. The data analysis method used is the Product Moment correlation from Karl Pearson using the SPSS 21.0 for Windows release program. The results showed a correlation coefficient of rxy = 0.738 with p = 0,000 (p <0.01). This proves that there is a relationship between self compassion and adversity intelligence so that the hypothesis in this study is acceptable. The suggestion from the researcher is that it is expected that the next researcher can carefully consider the characteristics of the sample and the number of personnel to help control the implementation of the study.
