Abstract

Drug interaction is one of the Drug Related Problems (DRP) that can occur in every treatments. One of the treatment is pneumonia as an infectious disease which needs combination of several drugs in the treatment process. A combination the use of drug is the result of interactions and increase a side effect, toxicity and reduces the clinical effects that is expected. This study aims to determine the type of drug interactions in the treatment of pediatric pneumonia patients in the Inpatient Installation of Surakarta Hospital "X" in 2018 based on literature studies. The study was conducted at the Inpatient Installation of "X" Hospital in Surakarta especially toward the pediatric pneumonia patients. Samples obtained from data taken from medical records retrospectively. Data were analyzed using literature and grouped based on drug interactions that are absorption, distribution, metabolism, excretion and the severity of drug interactions, namely minor, moderate, major using Lexicomp software and guidelines of Stockley Drug Interaction. From 71 samples, there were 18 interactions consisting of minor interactions (5.6%), moderate (89.1%) and major (5.6%). A mechanism the type of potential interaction arises pharmacokinetics that are absorption (5.6%) and metabolism (94.4%). Keywords: antibiotics, drug interactions, pneumonia
