Abstract

Hypertension has become the top 10 disease in RSUD Ir. Sokearno Sukoharjo Regency, hypertension occurs when the condition of a person where an increase in blood pressure is above normal is> 140/90 mmHg. Geriatrics are patients with advanced age who have decreased physiological reserve characteristics and are usually accompanied by functional disorders. The purpose of this study was to determine the characteristics of geriatric hypertension patients, profile of drug use and study of Drug Related Problems (DRPs) based on JNC VII and JNC VIII guidelines. This type of research is a non-experimental study with retrospective data collection using purposive sampling method, using a cross-sectional study design. The data taken in the form of medical record records of Geriatric patients diagnosed with Hypertension and data processing carried out in a descriptive design. Drug Related Problems (DRPs) are unwanted events regarding drug therapy in patients. The distribution of patients based on the highest age was 5665 years old (48.8%), gender (80,5%), 4 days stay in hospital (29,3%), stage 2 hypertension degree (92,7%), complications of hypertension with Cephalgia (61%), treatment profile for antihypertensive drugs is Amlodipine (24,4%). DRPs from 41 patients who entered the inclusion criteria with the indication category without drugs DRPs amounted to (0%), drugs without indication (0%), appropriate drug selection (26,7%), high doses (0%), low dose (13,3%) and drug interactions (60%) Keywords: Hypertension, Geriatric, DRPs
