Abstract

Bipolar affective disorder is a disorder characterized by a mood change between extreme pleasure and severe depression. This study was conducted to determine the description of the use of antipsychotic drugs and the appropriateness of treatment in affective bipolar disorder patients installed in RSJD Surakarta in 2017. The research method used is non experimental and descriptive method. The data were collected retrospectively by recording the patient's medical records diagnosed with bipolar affective disorder at RSJD Surakarta in 2017 according to inclusion. Patients who met the inclusion criteria were 55 patients. . The results showed that of 55 patients, Type of antipsychotics are widely used risperidon 72,72%. Depakote and haloperidolare the least used 14,54%. The use of antipsichotics for bipolar disorder patients at the RSJD Surakarta 2017 can be saide to be in accordance with therapeutic guidelines and guide clinical practice of mental health.
