Abstract

Hypertension has the potential to cause dangerous complications such as ischemic stroke and hemorrhagic stroke. Treatment of hypertension with a stroke of only 30% can be controlled by monotherapy, the rest combination. Combination therapy increases drug interaction. This study aimed to determine the incidence of drug interactions in hypertensive patients accompanied by stroke in the inpatient Installation RSUD Surakarta 2018. Retrieval of data used the retrospective method. Patient samples were taken by purposive sampling method. Data were analyzed descriptively nonexperimental by analyzing drug interactions using Lexicomp software. Characteristics of patients from 52 samples based on the sex of the most women (61.5%). The age most suffered 45-65 years (65.4%). The length of treatment for patients is 3-6 days, 40 patients (76.9%). The most common type of stroke was ischemic stroke, which was 36 patients (69.2%). The use of antihypertensive drugs that were widely used for single drugs is diltiazem (13.5%), and the combination drug amlodipine + candesartan (11.5%) and amlodipine + candesartan + furosemide inj (11.5%). Drug interaction analysis found 85 patients experiencing drug interactions, namely moderate (54.1%), minor (27.1%), major (18.8%). The pharmacodynamic mechanism of 60 events (70.6%) and pharmacokinetics of 25 events (29.4%). The most common interactions between antihypertensive drugs were diltiazem with cilostazol 10 events. Antihypertensive drug interactions with other drugs that often occur are amlodipine with diclofenac sodium and candesartan with diclofenac sodium for 7 events.
