Abstract

Radish (Raphanus Sativus L.) is one type of vegetable plant to be cooked, and can be used as traditional medicine. Radish has a lot of compound content, one of them is phenolic which is suspected to cause toxic. This research aims to knowing the effects of acute toxicity, the price of LD50, the effect on weight and macroscopic female mice organs. Radish is macerated with 70% ethanol until it is obtained the thick extract. Acute toxicity test was carried out by fixed dosage method using 30 female rat test animals which divided into 6 groups, namely negative control, dose of 5 mg/kgBB, 50 mg/kgBB, 300 mg/kgBB, 2000 mg/kgBB, and 5000 mg/kgBB. The study was conducted for 24 hours to 14 days, the weight index of rat organs was carried out statistical tests with one-way ANAVA and continued the Post-Hoc test. The results of the observations showed that after extracting up to a dosage of 5000 mg/kgBB does not cause the death of animal test and toxic effects are not meaningful, so they can be stated that it is safe, and can affect the weight of mice, observing mice organically macroscopically in all groups is normal and there is no organ damage to mice caused by the allocation of preparation test. Thus, LD50 radish ethanol extract in mice greater than 5000 mg/kgBB including the practical classification that is not toxic. Keywords : Acute toxicity, radish
