Abstract
Drug interaction is one of the problems that arise in a therapy. Patients with diabetes mellitus accompanied by concomitant diseases often cause various complications, so patients receive antidiabetic and other drugs combined with more than 2 or more drugs at once. That condition causes drug interactions. Non-experimental research in the form of a retrospective survey was conducted through medical records of patients with diabetes mellitus with comorbidities undergoing hospitalization in January 2017 to December 2017 at the Karanganyar Regional General Hospital. Drug interactions were examined from medical record data and then analyzed using the percentage of points included in drug interactions. From 69 medical records obtained and analyzed, a percentage of the points of drug interactions occurred. Points of drug interaction that occur are analyzed based on the occurrence of drug interactions related to the treatment of diabetes mellitus with comorbidities and complications. From Of 69 patients there were 56 patients experiencing drug interactions with 165 cases of drug interactions. The interaction events involving antidiabetic drugs were 84 events (50.60%). The highest incidence was between novorapid and lantus, which was 10 events (14.49%), the most interaction category was the interaction category of moderate 113 interactions (68.48%), the most interaction mechanism was 128 pharmacodynamic interactions (77, 58%).
