Abstract

Pneumonia is a cold cough disease with shortness of breath or rapid breathing. Selection and use of appropriate and rational antibiotic therapy will determine the success of treatment to avoid bacterial resistance. The purpose of this study was to find out, antibiotics that more cost-effective between ceftriaxone and cefotaxime injections of pneumonia patient in Inpatient Installation of Brayat Minulya Hospital in 2017. The method used for data collection was retrospectively by tracing patient's secondary data which includes medical records. Complete collected data then analyzed to obtain the effectiveness and cost efficiency between ceftriaxone and cefotaxime antibiotics used by pneumonia inpatients at Brayat Minulya Hospital in 2017. Analysis of data by calculating the value of Average CostEffectiveness Ratio (ACER). The results showed the effectiveness of cefotaxime was 71.88% and ceftriaxone was 77.78%. Total cost of cefotaxime therapy was Rp. 13,275,974.47 and ceftriaxone was Rp. 12,792,030.64. Ceftriaxone more cost-effective with ACER value Rp. 16,446,426.64 compared to cefotaxime Rp. 18,469,636.16 of pneumonia inpatients at Brayat Minulya Hospital in 2017.
