Abstract

Cost Effectiveness Analysis (CEA) is a pharmacoeconomic method described in a cost-effectiveness ratio in order to assist making the effective drug selection decisions by benefit and cost. The aim of this study was to establish a more cost effectiveness therapy between the use of a ceftriaxone injection and a cefotaxime injrction in pneumonia patient. This research uses cross-sectional with retrospective data retrieval. The sampling technique used was purposive sampling of inpatients in Dr. Moewardi Hospital in 2018. Calculation of the effectiveness of therapy in terms of Length of stay (LOS) with the condition the patient returned home in a state of cured and comparison of average costs total use of ceftriaxone and cefotaxime. The sample in this study consisted of 36 patients, which are 18 patients using ceftriaxone and 18 patient using cefotaxime. The results of the study showed that the cost of ceftriaxone was Rp. 780,123.28 while cefotaxime is Rp. 782,723.11. Cefotaxime therapy group is more cost-effective with ACER value of Rp. 11,742.02 compared to cefotaxime group with ACER value of Rp. 14,043.62. Calculation of ICER retrieved the value of Rp. 19.830.89. Keywords: Cost Effectiveness Analysis, ceftriaxone, cefotaxime
