Abstract

Rhodamin B is a dye used for the cat, textile and paper industries. This study was conducted to determine the content and levels of Rhodamine B contained in the blush on circulating in Magetan City. The method used in this study was a qualitative method with the TLC (Thin Layer Chromatography) method and quantitative method using the UV VIS spectrophotometry method. The blush on sample used consisted of 3 samples A, sample B, and sample C obtained from three different stores in Magetan City. The results of the study using the TLC method on UV 254 nm and 366nm showed sample A and sample B containing Rhodamin B with the appearance of orange-yellow fluorescence. Level readings with UV VIS spectrophotometry showed that from the three samples containing Rhodamin B with sample A levels of 0.15916% b/b, sample B was 0.02245% b/b, and sample C was 0.01274% b/b.
