Abstract

Tuberculosis is an infectious diseases caused by Mycobacterium tuberculosis. One of the keys in tuberculosis medication is patient compliance. The non-compliance of tuberculosis patients mostly was caused by the amount of medicine that must be taken, long-term drug use, side effect that may come up. This research is aimed to find out if side effect of anti-tuberculosis medication at Balai Besar Kesehatan Paru Masyarakat (BBKPM) Surakarta makes impact towards patient medication complience in 2019. This study was a non-experimental research. Data collection is done prospectively and analyzed descriptively. Sampling method used was purposive sampling. The researcher collects data by interviewing patients who came for tuberculosis medication using questionare. Thirty nine samples which were qualified within inclusion and exclusion criteria, patients who already taken anti-tuberculosis medicine category I for more than a month, are collected. This research showed side effect which mostly experienced by the pulmonary tuberculosis patients is gastrointestinal disorder involves nausea, throwing up, abdominal pain in amount of 31%. It means that there was no significant impact between side effect and medication compliance experienced by pulmonary tuberculosis patient at BBKPM Surakarta in 2019 with values from Asymp.
