Abstract

Petai cina leaves (Leucaena leucocephala (Lam) De Wit.) are plants that can be used as traditional medicine. The compounds of petai cina leaves include flavonoids, alkaloids, tannins and terpenoids. This research was conducted to determine the antibacterial activity ef ethanol extract, n-hexane, ethyl acetate and water fraction from petai cina leaves, the most active fraction, Minimum Inhibitory Concentration and Minimum Kill Concentration from the most active fraction toward Pseudomonas aeruginosa ATCC 27853. The extraction of petai cina leaves using maceration method with 70% ethanol and then fractionated to n-hexan, ethyl acetate dan water fraction. The extraction and fractionation results were tested for antibacterial activity against Pseudomonas aeruginosa ATCC 27853 using diffusion method with concentrations of 40%, 30% and 20% and dilution method with concentrations of 40%, 20%, 10%, 5%, 2,5%, 1,25%, 0,625%, 0,3125%, 0,156% and 0,078%. The result of this study showed that ethanol extract, h-hexane, ethyl acetat, and water fraction have antibacterial activity. The most active fraction is ethyl acetat fraction at concentration of 40% which has inhibition zone diameter 13,47 mm. Dilution result showed that ethyl acetat fraction had MKC 20%.
