Abstract

Roots of Alang-alang (Imperata cylindrica L.) are used to stop bleeding. Hemostatic is a mechanism used to stop and prevent bleeding. This study aims to determine the hemostatic activity and effective dose by using parameters of bleeding time, blood clotting time and prothrombin time (PT). The study used 25 mice divided into 5 groups namely negative control (CMC Na), positive control (tranexamic acid), dose of alang-alang extract at a dose of 5,6; 11,2 and 22,4 mg/20 g BB mice. Induced by using heparin for subcutaneously for 5 days at a dose of 0.01 ml/20 g BB mice. All data valued with Shapiro-Wilk to determine its normality was then analyzed using the One Way ANOVA test followed by the Tukey HSD test. The result showed that the administration of alang-alang ethanolic exstract canned accelerate bleeding time, cloting time and protombin time (PT) on white mice male induced by heparin. An effective dose that canned speed up bleeding time, cloting time and protombin time (PT) was dose 5,6 mg/20 g of mice. Keyword : alang-alang, hemostatic, heparin.
