Abstract
Pseudomonas aeruginosa is the largest percentage of nosocomial infections and causes various systemic infections. Research on red betel (Piper crocatum Ruiz & Pav) has been widely used as a mouthwash and medicine for female organs. Alkaloid compounds, flavonoid, saponins, tannins, essential oils in red b etel caqn be used as antibacterial. Red betel leaf is reported to have antibacterial activity on Staphylococcus aerus, Eschericia coli, Candida albicans. This study aims to determine the antibacterial activity of red betel leaf infusion, and its contents. Red betel leaf extracted by infusion method with aquadest solvent, then phytochemical screening test and antibacterial activity test were carried out. The control (+) used by red betel leaf infusion and then made a 100% dilution series; 50%; 25%; 12.5%; 6.25%; 3.125%; 1.56%; 0.781%, tested against Pseudomonas aeruginosa ATCC 27853 in dilution and diffusion. The results of the phytochemical screening test for red betel leaf infusion contain alkaloids, flavonoids, saponins, tannins, and essential oils. Infusion of red betel leaf with a concentration of 100%; 50%; 25%; 12.5%; 6.25%; 3.125%; 1.56%; 0.781%, has no antibacterial activity against Pseudomonas aeruginosa and in the diffusion test there is no inhibition zone formed. this is due to several factors including the solvent used and the infusion concentration of red betel leaves Keywords: Red betel leaf (Piper crocatum Ruiz & Pav) antibacterial, dilution, diffusion, Pseudomonas aeruginosa ATCC 27853
