Abstract

Increased prosperity in developing countries and changes in lifestyle cause an increase in the prevalence of degenerative diseases, one of which is Diabetes Mellitus. According to the WHO in 2005 there were around 171 million people suffering from Diabetes Mellitus in 2000, of which 90% were type 2 diabetes mellitus. The aim of this study was to determine and evaluate the use of antidiabetic drugs in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus in the inpatient installation of RSUD Karanganyar in 2018 adjusted for PERKENI and WHO. This study uses a non-experimental analytical descriptive method by means of retrospective data collection in January-December 2018 by looking at medical records in patients with type 2 Diabetes Mellitus in RSUD Karanganyar. Sampling using non probability sampling method with purposive sampling technique. Data analysis was taken from medical record data including name, age, gender, diagnosis and use of patient medication. The results showed that the most widely used oral antidiabetic drug by type 2 Diabetes Mellitus patients in the Inpatient Installation of RSUD Karanganyar in 2018 was metformin 500 mg, which is the biguanid. In evaluating the use of antidiabetic drugs, the results of 100% indication of accuracy, 100% accuracy of the drug, 100% accuracy of the drug, and accuracy of the dose of 96.66% were obtained.
