Abstract
Hypertension occurrence increases with increasing age notably in elderly, ranging from 53%–72%. The purpose of this study were to ascertain the profile of hypertension drugs use, identify Drug Related Problems (DRPs) with drug category included in this study were without indications, indications that were not treated, under dose or over dose and to find out influence of outcome on geriatric hypertension inpatients at Dr. Sayidiman Regional Public Hospital Magetan in 2018. This study was descriptive non-experimental with data collected retrospectively. Inclusion criteria were medical record data of patients diagnosed with hypertension, geriatric patient (65 years and above), hospitalization ≥3 days, with or without comorbidities or complications, died during treatment due to DRPs whlist exclusion criteria included damaged or illegible medical record data, patients who died during treatment. Based on the inclusion and exclusion criteria, 38 geriatric hypertension patients met the criteria were obtained. To see the accuracy of drug selection and dosage compared to the JNC 8 and JNC 7 guidelines. The results showed that there were 2 patients experiencing drugs without indications (5.3%), no patient had an untreated indication, 7 patients had over dose (18.4%), and no patients experienced under dose. Therapy frequently used was combination of 2 drugs between amlodipine and captopril 18.4%. Keywords : DRPs, Hypertension, Geriatri
