Abstract
Diarrhea is a common condition characterized by an increase in the frequency of bowel movements and increased liquidity from feces. The treatments used for diarrheal diseases in Yogyakarta Nugroho Nursing Hospital are metronidazole, amoxicillin, cefotaxime, cefixime, and cotrimoxazole. The purpose of this study was to determine the pattern of use and suitability of antibiotic use in hospitalized pediatric patients with a diagnosis of diarrhea in 2018. This type of research is non-experimental with a purposive sampling method using secondary data for the period of 2018 regarding the treatment of diarrhea. Complete collected data is then analyzed to determine the pattern of antibiotic use in inpatient pediatric patients at Panti Nugroho Hospital in 2018. Analysis of the results is done by comparing treatment at the hospital based on the exact indications, the right medication, the right dosage with the Ministry of Health 2011 literature and WHO 2005. The results showed that the most widely used antibiotics were metronidazole and patients were exactly 100% indicated by the Indonesian Ministry of Health 2011 and WHO 2005, exactly 100% according to the Indonesian Ministry of Health 2011 and 100% according to WHO 2005, for the exact dose according to the Republic of Indonesia 90,32% and according to WHO 2005 80,48% Keywords: Diarrhea, pattern of antibiotic use, suitability of antibiotic use
