Abstract

Abstract Rice is one of the staple food sources of carbohydrates which is a source of energy in the body, especially for most of Indonesia's population to make rice as the main staple goods. The substances contained in rice have a very high nutritional value. Good rice is rice that produces rice that is soft (pulen) and fragrant and free from harmful materials. The very white colored rice is one of the characteristics of chlorinated whitish rice. Chlorine is a food additive that is prohibited, because it can cause adverse effects to the body. The purpose of this research is to know the chlorine content in rice in Mojosongo region. A qualitative analysis of 15 rice samples labeled A - O was then examined for color reaction of rice washing water by addition of KI and starch. Known on samples labeled D and M indicated positive containing chlorine. Quantitative analysis on samples labeled D and M showed chlorine levels in rice: D Samples of rice amounted to 39.699 ppm and M rice samples of 75.660 ppm.
