Abstract

Pain is an unpleasant sensory experience related to tissue damage, both actual and potential, or described in the form of damage. Bidara leaves have the potential as an analgesik. This study aims to determine the analgesic effect of bidara leaf extract and determine teh dose of analgesic effect of bidara leaf extract and determine the effective dose of bidara leaf extract by method whithing test. This research was carried out by maceration method with 70% ethanol. 25 male white mice were divided into 5 groups, namely aquadest negative control, positive control of ibuprofen, bidara leaf extract 100mg/Kg BB, 150mg/Kg BB, 200mg/Kg BB, then seen stretching response, ie both pairs of legs forward and backward and abdomen pressed until the floor appers maximum after 5 minutes of induction. The data of stretching mice obtained were the analyzed by ANOVA test, then used TUKEY HSD to determine the differences between the test groups. The results showed extracts of 100mg/Kg BB, 150mg/Kg BB, 200mg/Kg BB, and positive controls has an effect as an analgesic. 150mg/Kg BB extract dose comparable to positive control, that the dose has optimal analgesic activity. compounds flavonoids contained in bidara leaves are thought to have analgesic effects. Key words : analgesic, tail flick, writhing test, bidara leaves
