Abstract

Tuberculosis (TB) is a contagious infectious disease caused by Mycobacterium tuberculosis. Routine treatment and use of anti-tuberculosis drugs (OAT) that have side effects to patients make researchers interested in knowing the side effects of OAT use in pulmonary TB patients. The purpose of this study was to determine the characteristics of patients with pulmonary TB who underwent intensive OAT treatment and the side effects of using OAT in intensive stage pulmonary patients in Karanganyar Hospital in 2018. The method used in this study is a descriptive method that is non-experimental with retrospective data collection from medical records of patients with pulmonary TB. Data used based on patient profiles such as gender, age, treatment method, and side effects caused during the intensive stage during the treatment period. Taken is the occurrence of OAT side effects in patients with intensive pulmonary TB at the Karanganyar Regional General Hospital in 2018. The results of this study were 155 patients with pulmonary TB, which were identified based on patients with pulmonary TB without comorbidities with the largest percentage type data male genitalia 91 patients (59%), age 46-65 years totaling 75 patients (48%), body weight 55 - 70 kg as many as 68 patients (44%), and the incidence of OAT side effects that arise in the intensive stage is gastrointestinal 74 patients (22%), weak 71 patients (21%), dizziness 44 patients (13%), balance disorders 27 patients (8%), fever 20 patients (6%), lack of appetite 17 people (5%) , 17 patients with visual impairment (5%), 11 itchy patients (3%), red urine 6 patients (2%), burning sensation in 4 patients (1%), jaundice without other causes and shock (shock) 0 patients (0%).
