Abstract

Platelets are blood cells that play an important role in hemostasis. Platelets attach to the endothelial lining of blood vessels that tear (wound) by forming platelet plug. Platelets have no cell nuclei, 1-4 μm, and a blue-colored cytoplasm with reddish purple granules. Platelets are derived from megakaryocytes, derived from megacariocyte cytoplasmic fragments. Platelet count 150,000-350.000 / mL blood. The method of this study was to compare the number of platelet counts with indirect method and Hematology Analyzer, and was obtained in the sample of alcohol drinkers. In this study the calculation using Normality Test and t-test test and using Shapiro-Wilk Test because the number of samples less than 50 samples. The t-test was used to determine the significant differences in yield on platelet counts by the indirect method and the Hematology Analyzer. The results of the study examined the number of platelet counts indirect method and hematology analyzer followed by 30 patients drinking alcohol. Based on the results of statistical analysis obtained, it can be concluded that there are differences in the number of platelet counts with indirect methods and hematology analyzer (p = 0.000).
