Abstract

Bronchopneumonia is a respiratory tract disease caused by microorganisms and contributes to the largest mortality rates in the world including in Indonesia. The purpose of this research is to know the overview and evaluation of quality use of antibiotics in bronchopneumonia patients with Gyssens method. This research is an observational design with a retrospective approach and purposive sampling techniques. The inclusion criteria for the study were all bronchopneumonia patients who were admitted to the Inpatient Installation with Length of Stay at least 3 days in RSUP Dr. Soeradji Tirtonegoro Klaten who received antibiotic therapy in 2017-2018. Based on the characteristics of patients, the most gender diagnosed with bronchopneumonia disease is a male with the age category of 1-5 years, and the most widely used antibiotic is ampicillin with an intravenous administration route. The quality of the use of antibiotics with the Gyssens method in bronchopneumonia patients in Dr. RSUP Soeradji Tirtonegoro Klaten in 20172018 obtained the results of category 0 (rational) 61.11%; category I (time of administration) 5.55%; category IIa (right dose) 6.67%; category IIb (exact interval) 4.44%; category IIIB (use of antibiotics are too short) 1.11%; and category IVa (other antibiotics are more effective) 21.11%.
