Abstract
Epilepsy is a brain function disorder that occurs suddenly as a result of the release of an abnormal electric charge, characterized by periodic seizures. Epilepsy has a high diagnosis and death rate. Therapy for epilepsy sufferers is long-term anticonvulsions. Ceremai leaves (Phyllanthus acidus (L.) Skeels) contain flavonoids which have the potential as anticonvulsions. The purpose this study to determine the anticonvulsion effect of ceremai leaf extract by increasing the onset, decreasing the duration, frequency and number of deaths of male isoniazid-induced mice, and the effective dose. This research employed tested animal divided into 5 groups: negative control (CMC Na), positive control (phenobarbital) 26 mg/KgBW, and varying concentrations of ceremai leaves ethanol extract: 100, 200, and 400 mg/KgBW, each of which consists of 6 mice. All groups were treated for 10 days, and then induced with isoniazid. The data observed included tonic-clonic convulsion involving onset, duration, frequency, and number of deaths. Data was analyzed using One Way ANOVA test, followed with Post Hock Tukey tests. The results showed that the ethanol extract of ceremai leaves gave an anticonvulsion effect on isoniazid-induced mice by prolong the onset, accelerate the duration, reducing seizure frequency and number of deaths. The results of the study showed that the extract of the ceremai leaf ethanol at a dose of 400 mg / KgBW was an effective dose as an anticonvulsion. Keywords: anticonvulsion, ceremai leaves ethanol extract, isoniazid
