Abstract
Sepsis is a response systemic inflammatory against infection and has a high mortality rate caused by organ dysfunction. Sepsis patient usually not only suffer from one type of disease causes patient to get several medications, therefore increasing the occurrence of drug interactions. The purpose of this study was to determine the profile of drug use, severity occurrence of drug interactions and drug interaction mechanisms in treatment of sepsis inpatient at Pandan Arang Regional Public Hospital Boyolali in 2018 using application of Lexicomp Reference-Drug Interaction Checker and Stockley Drug Interaction. This study was descriptive with retrospective data collected and conducted by observation at medical record of sepsis inpatients aged> 26 years old, diagnosed with sepsis with or without complications hospitalized at Pandan Arang Regional Public Hospital Boyolali in 2018 with purposive sampling technique. The results of this study obtained 59 patients included in the inclusion criteria, most used antibiotic therapy was ceftriaxon with a number of 18 patients (40,0%), most supportive therapy for stress ulcer prophylaxis (omeprazole) as many as 31 events. Potential drug interactions were found in 59 patients with 35 interactions, severity of drug interaction at its peak with moderate level was 22 events (63.8%). Interaction mechanism mostly occurred in pharmacokinetics phase with 23 interactions (63.8%). Keyword: Sepsis, Drug Interactions, Pandan Arang Regional Public Hospital Boyolali
