Abstract
Red galangal rhizome and bangle traditionally known as fungal skin infection drugs. Component that has antifungal activity is essential oil. Combination of essential oil made in gel preparation. This study aims to determine the most effective activities of gel preparation combination essential oil red galangal and bangle rhizomes on skin of rabbit infected with Candida albicans ATCC 10231. Essential oil obtained by water-steam distillation. Gel preparation made by comparison combination essential oils 3:1 with 3 concentration that is 2%, 4%, and 8%. Gel is tested the physical quality and stability. Antifungal activity was tested on rabbit skin infected with Candida albicans ATCC 10231. Results were analyzed by ANOVA. Observation of healing was seen from loss of lesions, erythema, dryness of wounds, growth of fur and absence of Candida albicans colonies on SGA media. The results of the research of gel preparation combination essential oil red galangal and bangle concentration 8% having the best effectiveness against Candida albicans ATCC 10231 which was infected on skin of rabbit with recovery time of 10,6 days.
