Abstract
Dimenhydrinat is a salt of difenhidramin and 8-chloroteofilina which has the potential as a first generation antihistamine. Dimenhydrinate was classified into class II biopharmaceutical classification system (BCS). Medicines classified as BCS class II have high permeability and low solubility, so dimenhidrynate can be made spherical crystals using the Spherical Agglomeration method to improve solubility. The aim of this study was to find out that dimenhydrinate can be made spherical crystals, the type and concentration of polymers that affect the results of spherical crystals and the characterization of spherical dimenhydrinate crystal produced. This study uses polymers (PVA, PVP K-30 and PEG 4000) and solvents (ethanol, aquadestilata and ethyl acetate). Spherical dimenhydrinate crystal carried out morphological tests on the microscope, SEM test, XRD test, test the percentage of yield, solubility test and then analyze the data. The results showed that dimenhydrinate can be made spherical crystal using the Spherical Agglomeration method using 1% PVP K-30 polymer which is able to increase solubility compared to pure dimenhydrinate. The characterization of spherical dimenhydrinate crystals in XRD showed crystallinity and changes in the morphological form of dimenhydrinate in the SEM test. Keywords : Dimenhidrynate, sferis crystal, Spherical Agglomeration, PVA, PVP K-30, PEG 4000, XRD, SEM.
