Abstract

Jamu Beras Kencur is a traditional Indonesian medicine that still consumed in nowadays by the public. Jamu Beras Kencur is consumed by the public because it has the efficacy to increase endurance human body, eliminate the wind, and fatigue. This research aims to know the number of bacteria and the percentage of the amount of jamu beras kencur taken randomly in Surakarta, Jawa Tengah. This research is a descriptive non-experimental study. Data obtained in the form of yeast (AKK) and total plate figures (ALT). stages of this research conducted include the determination and selection of sampling sites, sampling of jamu beras kencur, testing AKK and ALT, identification of bacteria Escherichia coli, Staphylococcus aureus, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Salmonella spp., as well as analysis of results. Useful to ensure the quality and safety of herbs, especially at the preparation of jamu beras kencur were produced by the merchant of Jamu Gendong in Surakarta, Jawa Tengah. The results of the research conducted on the five samples of jamu beras kencur were produced by the seller of jamu gendong in Surakarta obtained AKK value from samples A, B, C, D, E, consecutive 7 x 101 colony/ml, 8 x 101 colony/ml, 2.5 x 101 colony/ml, <10 colony/ml, <10 colony/ml, while the ALT value of the sample A, B, C, D, E, which are 7,5 x 105 colony/ml, 1,4 x 105 colony/ml, 8,0 x 105 colony/ml, 5,0 x 105 colony/ml, 5,2 x 102 colony/ml and negative contains E. coli bacteria, S. aureus, P. aeruginosa, Salmonella spp. bacteria.
