Abstract

The incidence of sepsis increased along with the mortality rate that also swell. Mortality rate caused by sepsis in Indonesia reached 30%-50% of total patient with sepsis. Antibiotic therapy is one of the triumph supporting components in the treatment of sepsis. The purpose of this study were to ascertain characteristics of antibiotics usage and its rationality in sepsis inpatients at RSUD Pandan Arang Boyolali in 2018 using Gyssens method. This study was non experimental with retrospective descriptive analysis design. This study was conducted by analyzing medical record data of sepsis inpatients who received antibiotic therapy at RSUD Pandan Arang Boyolali during 2018 with purposive sampling method. The results from 72 patients were antibiotic therapy was given in combination (54.2%), the most used antibiotic type was Ceftriaxone (35%), duration antibiotics administered during 4-7 days (42.5%) And route of antibiotic administered mostly intravenously (97.5%). Quality evaluation results based on the category 0 Gyssens (Rational/precise) 75%, category IIA (improper dose) 2.8%, category IIIA (too long) 2.8%, category IVA (more effective) 18.1% and IVB category (less toxic) 1.3%.
