Abstract
Hypertension causes Diabetes Mellitus and or vice versa. In patients with hypertension, either short-term or lifelong treatment with various drugs can cause the possibility of drug interactions. The purpose of this study was to determine the profile of antihypertensive drug use and the occurrence of antihypertensive drug interactions in hypertensive patients accompanied by diabetes mellitus in the Inpatient Installation of Surakarta Hospital 2018. Retrieval of data using the retrospective method. Patient samples were taken by purposive sampling method. The study sample was data on patients diagnosed with hypertension with diabetes mellitus recorded in medical records at the Inpatient Installation of Surakarta Public Hospital for the period of 2018. This study was descriptive non-experimental and analyzes drug interactions using Lexicomp software, Drug Information Handbook, and Stockleys Drug Interactions. Of the 50 patient samples, drug interactions were found with a total of 130 drug interactions. The most widely used single antihypertensive therapy was the captopril group (14%) and the combination drug amlodipine with captopril (8%) interaction analysis found that 48 patients had drug interactions ie minor 8 cases (15.1%), moderate 43 cases (81.1% ), major 2 cases (3.8%). The most interaction mechanism is the pharmacodynamic interaction of 44 events (83%). Frequent drug interactions antihypertensive agents are ramipril with furosemide (0.77%).
