Abstract
Schizophrenia is a clinical syndrome with a variety of psychopathological conditions that are very disturbing, involving processes of thought, emotion, and behavior. Treatment of schizophrenia takes a long time, so there is a possibility of side effects. Side effects that occur can interfere with the lifestyle of patients, which results in patients not obedient to therapy. This study aims to determine the pattern of use of antipsychotic drugs and find out the incidence of antipsychotic side effects in schizophrenic patients in the Inpatient Installation of RSJD Dr. RM. Soedjarwadi in 2018. This study uses a descriptive non-experimental method with retrospective data collection. The sample is in the form of medical record data of patients with a diagnosis of schizophrenia at the inpatient installation of RSJD Dr. RM. Soedjarwadi in 2018. The number of samples in this study were 164 patients according to predetermined inclusion and exclusion criteria. The results of the study showed that the most widely used antipsychotics were single drugs such as risperidone in 60 patients (58.3%). The most widely used combination of two antipsychotic drugs is haloperidol-risperidon in 17 patients (28.8%). The incidence of antipsychotic side effects obtained 131 patients (79.9%) with no side effects and 33 patients with side effects (20.1%). Side effects that are often experienced are extrrapyramidal form of parkinsonism including tremor (21.3%), rigid body (20.0%), hypersaliva (14.7%), and bradykinesia (8.0%). Another extrapyramidal is dystonia (17.3%). Keywords: Antipsychotics, Side Effects, Schizophrenia.
