Abstract

Cancer is the leading cause of death worldwide. One type of cancer that is increasingly increasing in the world and especially in Indonesia is liver cancer. Dragon scales (Drymoglossum piloselloides Presl.) Are empirically used to cure various diseases. Scientific research on leaves of dragon scales has been carried out in various diseases including T47D and P388 cancer cells. This study aims to determine the IC50 value and cytotoxic selectivity of the ethanol extract of sisik naga leaves on liver cancer cell culture (HepG2) and vero cells. This study included extraction of dragon scales using maceration method with 70% ethanol. Cytotoxic test of ethanol extract of leaves of dragon sisik was carried out by MTT method using series concentrations (1000; 500; 250; 125; 62,5; 31,2; 15,6) µg / ml. The cytotoxic activity of extracts against HepG2 cancer cells is known from the high or low IC50 values obtained from linear regression equations. The selectivity index is determined to determine the selectivity of extracts to normal cells. Cytotoxic test results of ethanol extract of sisik naga leaves showed nonpotent activity on HepG2 cells with IC50 values of 461.878 µg / ml, and had less selective cytotoxic selectivity with a selectivity index value of 2.26.
