Abstract

Every year pneumonia is always ranks the top cause of infant and child mortality in Indonesia.The therapy used to cure pneumonia is antibiotics. The purpose of this research is to get to know the profil of prescribing and the appropriate antibiotic prescribe in the children pneumonia patients in Tidar General Hospital according to Johns-Hopkins Antibiotic Guidelines 2015-2016. The design of this research is a retrospective descriptive research. The sample extraction technique is carried out by non-probability sampling using the saturated ones and got 164 respondents. The instrument of this research uses the medical report on children patient, and the analytical data is conducted descriptively. The result of the research shows that among 164 respondents, there are 35 patients using a single antibiotic. The drug use in a single therapy is cefixime syrup, amoxicillin injection, cefotaxime injection, ceftriaxone injection and zibramax syrup. The use of a combination of 2 antibiotics is 118 patient. The most commonly used combination of antibiotics is cefotaxime injection + cefixime syrup. The use of 3 combination of antibiotics is 11 patients, drugs that are often used are cefotaxime injection+gentamycin injection+ cefixime syrup. Prescribing antibotics for pediatric pneumonia patients in Tidar General Hospital in Magelang city is not appropriate with John Hopkins Antibiotics Guidline 2015-2016.
