Abstract
Soil Transmitted Helminth (STH) is an intestinal nematode that in its life cycle requires soil for its growth to be infective. Worms belonging to the STH are Ascaris lumbricoides, Trichuris trichiura, Hookworm, and Strongyloides. Soil is a transmission medium for STH worms. Sucen 1 Public Elementary School is an elementary school located in Kedung Lengkong Village, Simo District, Boyolali Regency. The environment in the school is that the floor has not been tiled and is still ground. Children often spend time playing without using footwear. The purpose of this study was to determine the presence of STH worms that infect students and the large prevalence of STH worm infections in Sucen 1 elementary school students. The method used in this study is the direct method that is macroscopically and microscopically on faecal samples and indirect methods namely by sedimentation examination in nail samples of Sucen 1 elementary school students. The results of research conducted on faecal and nail samples of Sucen 1 Elementary School students, Simo Subdistrict, Boyolali Regency, from 38 faecal samples found 3 positive faecal samples infected with intestinal worm nematode eggs of Group Soil Transmitted Helminth (STH) with a percentage of 7.89% while 33 negative samples with a percentage of 95.11% were not infected with eggs, Ascaris lumbricoides, Trichuris trichiura, Hookworm larvae and adult worms. In nail samples as many as 38 samples obtained negative results with a percentage of 100% no eggs or larvae of Ascaris lumbricoides, Trichuris trichiura, Hookworm were found. Keywords: Soil Transmitted Helminth (STH), Ascaris lumbricoides, Trichuris trichiura, Hookworm.
