Abstract

Kedawung seed (Parkia roxburghii G.Don.) is a plant that has efficacy as antihiperlipidemic. Hyperlipidemic is a condition in which lipid levels in blood plasma is increased including increasing triglyceride, cholestorel and LDL levels and decreasing HDL levels beyond normal limits. This research aims to understand the ethanol extract activity of kedawung seeds (Parkia roxburghii G. Don) on decreasing cholesterol and triglyceride levels and to understand which dosage that has optimum activity which equivalent to a positive control on decreasing cholesterol and triglyceride levels. This research used 30 male white rats divided into 6 groups namely normal control, negative control (CMC Na) and positive control (Simvastatin 0,9 mg/kg BW), with each dosage of ethanol extract of kedawung seeds is 200 mg, 400 mg, and 800 mg/Kg BW, then the cholesterol and triglyceride levels were checked at T0 (of the initial blood count of the test animals), then T1 14 days (after induced), and T2 (after being given test preparation) after 14 days, then the data of cholesterol and triglyceride levels tested with statistics Shapiro-Wilk, One Way Anova, Paired Sampel Test, and Post Hoc Test Tukey.. The result on this research showed that ethanol extract of kedawung seeds has activity on decreasing cholesterol and triglyceride levels on hyperlipidemic rats, and the dosage that has optimum activity which equivalent to a positive control on decreasing cholesterol and triglyceride levels is 800 mg/Kg BW.
