Abstract
Saccharin is an artificial sweetener used for product needs food, which serves to increase the taste thatis very high on food. This study aims to analyze the levels of saccaharine in fruit juice drinks sold in Mojosongo Solo. Sample analysis was conducted qualitative to determine the presence of saccharin in the sample, then proceed with quantitative to determine saccharin levels in the sample using spectrofhotometry with wavelengths of 250-300 nm at intervals of 2.0 nm. The results showed that from the five samples there was one sample which showed negative containing saccharin and the four samples showed positive containing saccharin, from the four sampleswhich had the highest levels height is 122,3 mg/kg, according to ISO the limit of consumption of saccharin in a type of concentrate (liquid or solid) for fruit juice is 300 mg/kg, so it can be concluded the saccaharin levels have do not exceed the allowed threshold values.
