Abstract
A lot of cosmetic products containing sunscreen has been on the market, thus raising concerns about the mismatches of the efficacy of sunscreens produced with those listed on the label, therefore it is necessary to determine the value of SPF (Sun Protection Factor) as the efficacy parameter of the sunscreen. The purpose of this study is to determine the actual SPF value. Moisturizer samples were tested in vitro using the UV-Vis spectrophotometry method with wavelengths of 290-320 nm at intervals of 5 nm. The absorbance is measured, then the results are analyzed using the Mansur equation. Based on the in vitro test, the SPF value in sample X was 17.16594 (SPF label of 20), in the Y sample it was 12.82512 (SPF label was 20) and in the Z sample was 8.44654 (SPF label was 15). It means that there is a difference between the SPF value on the label and the SPF value in vitro using UV-Vis spectrophotometry Keywords: Moisturizer, UV-Vis Spectrophotometry, SPF, Sunscreen
