Abstract
Papaya leaf pepaya (Carica papaya L.) was known has antibacterial activity and antibiofilm activity bacause contains flavonoid, alkaloid, saponin, steroid, and tanin. This research was aimed to determine the antibiofilm activity of papaya leaves extract and fraction, effective fraction for antibiofilm, and IC50 in inhibiting S. mutans ATCC 25175 biofilm. Papaya leaves macerated with 96% ethanol and then fractionated with nheksan, ethyl acetate and aquadest solvent. The Antibiofilm activity test was inhibition of biofilm formation with Microtitter Plate Biofilm Assay method using microtitterplate polystyrene flat-bottom 96 wells with a concentration of 30 mg/ml, 60 mg/ml and 90 mg/ml measurements of biofilm inhibition by seeing IC50 values at a wavelength of 550 nm. Data were analyzed using Two-Way ANOVA test to see data of procen inhibition are significant differences or not. The results of research showed Papaya Leaves extract and fraction were able to inhibit the biofilm formation of S. mutans ATCC 25175. The best fraction in inhibiting S. mutans ATCC 25175 is ethyl acetate fraction with IC50 at 9.69 mg/ml. Keywords: antibiofilm, Carica papaya L, S. mutans ATCC 25175
