Abstract
Candidiasis is an infection caused by the fungus Candida. Candida albicans is a single-celled (unicellular) fungus that can cause vaginal discharge, thrush, and if it is in the lungs it can cause systemic mycosis. White galangal rhizome contains flavonoids, while betel leaves contain phenolic compounds and tannins which can inhibit the growth of the fungus Candida albicans ATCC 10231. The purpose of this study was to determine the single ethanol extract and the combination of white galangal rhizome Alpinia galanga (L.) Willd and betel leaf (Piper betle L.) the most active female cleansing soap preparations to inhibit the growth of the fungus Candida albicans ATCC 10231. Galangal rhizome and leaf leaves Betel was extracted by maceration method using 70% ethanol with a ratio of 1:10. The activity test used is diffusion of wells by measuring the inhibitory zone formed. The preparation of feminine cleansing soap for the combination of ethanol extract of galangal rhizome and betel leaf is a single extract of white galangal and betel leaf (3: 0), (0: 3), (1.5: 1.5), (2: 1), and (1: 2). Based on this research, female cleansing soap combination of galangal rhizome and betel leaf ethanol extract can be made of female cleansing soap with good physical quality. Formula 4 feminine cleansing soap combination of galangal rhizome and betel leaf ethanol extract by comparison can inhibit the growth of the fungus Candida albicans ATCC 10231.
