Abstract

Diabetes mellitus with hypertension is a disease with a high number of cases and mortality, so it is necessary to have the right therapy to reduce the morbidity. The rationality use of antidiabetic drugs aims to ensure rationality in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus with hypertension. This study aims to information of the rationality of the use of antidiabetic drugs for inpatients at the RSUD Ir. Soekarno on Sukoharjo at 2018. This study is a non-experimental study that was designed descriptively, using a cross sectional study design in the form of a retrospective survey conducted through medical record data of type 2 diabetes mellitus patients with hypertension who are undergoing inpatient at RSUD Ir. Soekarno on Sukoharjo at 2018. This research was conducted by evaluating the rasionality of the use of antidiabetic drugs in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus with hypertension base on the right indication, the right patients, the right medicine, and the right dosage. Obtained 50 patients compared with the American Diabetes Association (ADA) guidlines. The results showed the use of antidiabetic drugs most widely used by patients was a combination of 3 drugs (novorpid, metformin, and glimepirid) 22%, while the use of antihypertensive drugs most widely use by patients, namely the Calcium Channel Blocker (CCB) drug namely amlodipine (36%). Rationality drug use according to the American Diabetes Association (ADA) were obtained for the right indication (100%), the right patient (100%), the right drug (72%), and the right dose (92%).
