Abstract

The potential use of the Tengger Tribe medicinal plants in healing various diseases traditionally has been done empirically. One of them is symptomatic in certain diseases that are accompanied by symptoms of swelling or inflammation. Based on the medicinal plants used by the Tengger tribe and the many cases of inflammation, it is necessary to develop a new anti-inflammatory drug sourced from natural ingredients. The purpose of this research is to explore the potential of plant activities and determine the use of plants as traditional medicine in the Tengger Tribe which has the potential as an anti-inflammatory. In determining the informant in the Tengger Tribe with snowball sampling, a semi-structured interview with the type of open-ended question is then conducted. The selection of selected plants with anti-inflammatory activity that has UV and ICF values close to 1 macerated with 96% ethanol. Selected plant ethanol extracts were made at concentrations of 250 ppm, 500 ppm, 1000 ppm and 2000 ppm with in vitro anti-inflammatory tests using the human red blood cell (HRBC) method or cell membrane stability. Subsequently tested in vivo by caragenin induction method 0.1 mg kg / BW rats, positive control of methyl prednisolone 0.072 mg / kg BW rats, at selected plant extract doses 105 mg kg / BW rats, 210 mg kg / BW rats and 560 mg kg / BB rat. The results of etnomedisine study in the Tengger tribe contained 31 types of diseases, 47 medicinal plants and 60 traditional herbs. There are 3 types of anti-inflammatory diseases and 4 selected medicinal plants which are then subjected to anti-inflammatory testing. The study evaluated the anti-inflammatory activity of several etnomedicin plants used in the treatment of the Tengger tribe. The best anti-inflammatory activity shown in muscle extract plant extracts (Borreria laevis), pangotan (Microsorium buergerianum Miq.), Tamarind tengger (Radicula armoracia Robinson), spooky (Artemisia vulgaris L.), can be a potential source of development of new anti-inflammatory drugs.
