Abstract

Adolescents are a developmental phase from childhood to adulthood. In this phase, many adolescents experience storms and stresses that can affect emotions and behavior. This makes teens do things based on experience or curiosity they have. So that the number of behaviors carried out by adolescents are mostly issued based on the emotions that are being felt. This research aimed to determine the relationship between alexithymia with self-injury behavior in adolescents in the city of Surakarta. Subjects in this study were adolescents in Surakarta who did self-injury behavior with 45 people. This research uses two tools in the form of TAS-20 alexithymia scale and selfinjury scale. The hypothesis proposed in this study is that there is a relationship between alexithymia and self-injury behavior in adolescents in the city of Surakarta. This research uses purposive sampling method. The method used for data analysis is a simple product moment using SPSS 21.0 for windows release. The results showed a correlation coefficient of rxy = 0.430 with p = 0.002 (p <0.01). This proves there is a significant role between alexithymia with self-injury behavior in adolescents. Thus, the hypothesis proposed in this study was accepted. Keyword : Alexithymia, Self-Injury, Adolescents
