Abstract

Stevia leaves (Stevia rebaudiana Bertoni) are reported to have many biological activities, one of which is antibacterial. Chemical constituents such as tannins, alkaloids, flavonoids, saponins, and phenols act as antibacterial agents to Staphylococcus aureus bacteria. Stevia leaves extraction (Stevia rebaudiana Bertoni) aims to make liquid body wash preparations properly and effectively in their use. The purpose of this study is to make a formulation of liquid body wash in stevia leaves ethanol extract and test the physical properties, and their activity to Staphylococcus aureus bacteria. This type of research is an experimental method on the identification of the chemical constituents of stevia leaf ethanol extract and the systematic literature review (SLR) method by take secondary data related to the physical quality test of liquid body wash that has the same formula and the antibacterial activity of stevia leaves extract from the results of research that has been carried out by previous researchers. The identification results of the chemical constituents of the ethanol extract of stevia leaves were positive for containing tannins, alkaloids, flavonoids, saponins and phenols. The review literature states that the ethanol extract of stevia leaves allows it to be made into liquid body wash, has good physical properties including organoleptic tests, pH, free alkali, specific gravity, high foam, and has the ability to be Staphylococus aureus antibacterial.
