Abstract

Ibuprofen merupakan obat golongan antiinflamasi non steroid (AINS) analgesik dan antipiretik untuk nyeri ringan hingga sedang. Keterbatasan penggunaan secara oral menyebabkan efek sampingnya pada saluran pencernaan yaitu terjadinya iritasi lambung hingga pendarahan, sehingga ibuprofen dikembangkan dalam sediaan topikal. Tujuan dari penelitian ini yaitu untuk mengetahui pengaruh variasi konsentrasi gelling agent karbopol 940 terhadap karakterisasi sifat fisik dan pelepasan ibuprofen atau obat dengan kelarutan rendah dalam sediaan topikal. Sediaan topikal diformulasikan dengan variasi konsentrasi gelling agent karbopol 940. Berdasarkan hasil studi deskriptif dilakukan pengujian pada sediaan topikal meliputi karakterisasi sifat fisik yaitu uji organoleptis, homogenitas, pH, viskositas, daya sebar, daya lekat dan pelepasan obat menggunakan metode difusi franz. Berdasarkan hasil pengujian, peningkatan konsentrasi karbopol 940 berpengaruh terhadap peningkatan viskositas, daya lekat, dan menurunnya daya sebar sehingga menyebabkan penurunan pelepasan sediaan topikal ibuprofen atau obat dengan kelarutan rendah berdasarkan hasil studi deskriptif. Kata kunci: Ibuprofen, karbopol, sediaan topikal, mutu fisik, pelepasan. Ibuprofen is an analgesic and antipyretic non-steroidal antiinflammatory drug (NSAID) for mild to moderate pain. Limitations of oral use cause side effects in the digestive tract that is the occurrence of gastric irritation until bleeding, so ibuprofen is developed in topical preparations. The purpose of this study is to find outthe effect of variations in the concentration of carboxing gelling agent 940 on characterization of physical properties and release of. Ibuprofen or drugs with low solubility in topical preparations. Topical preparations were formulated with variations in the concentration of carbohydrate gelling agents 940. Based on the results of descriptive studies conducted tests on topical preparations including the characterization of physical properties, namely organoleptic test, homogeneity, pH, viscosity, diffusion power, adhesion and drug release using the Franz diffusion method. Based on the test results, the increase in the concentration of carbopol 940 affects the increase in viscosity, adhesion, and decreasing the spread of power, causing a decrease in the release of topical preparations of ibuprofen or drugs with low solubility based on the results of descriptive studies.
