Abstract

Ibuprofen merupakan turunan asam propionat dengan efek analgesik, antipiretik, dan antiinflamasi yang dominan mencerminkan suatu penghambatan dari sintesis prostaglandin. Penggunaan ibuprofen secara oral memiliki keterbatasan dalam penggunaannya karena dapat menimbulkan efek pada saluran pencernaan khususnya iritasi lambung sampai pendarahan, sehingga dibuat sediaan topikal. Obat lain yang termasuk dalam golongan Biopharmaceutics Classiffication System II (BCS II) seperti tiKRnidazole dan sodium diklofenak memiliki kelarutan rendah dalam air sehingga absorbsi obat kurang baik. Penelitian studi deskriptif ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh variasi konsentrasi Na-CMC sebagai gelling agent terhadap karakterisasi sifat fisik dan pelepasan ibuprofen atau obat yang memiliki kelarutan rendah dalam formula sediaan topikal berdasarkan hasil studi deskriptif. Penelitian ini dilakukan dengan membuat sediaan semipadat yang digunakan secara topikal dengan menggunakan variasi konsentrasi Na CMC sebagai gelling agent. Sediaan ini selanjutnya dilakukan uji karaterisasi sifat fisik dan pelepasan obat untuk mengetahui pengaruh dari variasi konsentrasi gelling agent Na CMC berdasarkan hasil studi deskriptif. Hasil dari studi deskriptif menunjukkan bahwa variasi konsentrasi gelling agent Na CMC berpengaruh terhadap peningkatan nilai viskositas, daya lekat, penurunan daya sebar, dan penurunan pelepasan ibuprofen atau obat yang memiliki kelarutan rendah dalam sediaan topikal. Pelepasan ibuprofen atau obat yang memiliki kelarutan rendah dari sediaan topikal menurun dengan peningkatan konsentrasi gelling agent Na CMC yang digunakan. Ibuprofen is a propionic acid derivative with dominant analgesic, antipyretic and anti-inflammatory effects reflecting an inhibition of prostaglandin synthesis. The use of ibuprofen orally has limitations in its use because it can cause effects on the digestive tract, especially gastric irritation until bleeding, so topical preparations are made. Other drugs included in the Biopharmaceutics Classiffication System II (BCS II) group such as tinidazole and sodium diclofenac have low solubility in water so that the absorption of the drug is not good. This descriptive study aims to determine the effect of variations in Na-CMC concentration as a gelling agent on the characterization of physical properties and the release of ibuprofen or drugs that have low solubility in topical preparation formulas based on the results of descriptive studies. This research was conducted by making semisolid preparations used topically by using variations in the concentration of Na CMC as a gelling agent. This preparation was then performed physical characterization test and drug release to determine the effect of variations in the concentration of Na CMC gelling agent based on the results of descriptive studies. The results of the descriptive study showed that variations in the concentration of Na CMC gelling agent had an effect on increasing the value of viscosity, adhesion, decreasing spreadability, and decreasing release of ibuprofen or drugs which had low solubility in topical preparations.
