Abstract
Snails (Achatina fulica) produce mucus containing achasin-AF and mytimacin-AF proteins with antibacterial activity against Streptococcus aureus and Escherichia coli. Achasin proteins has molecular weights of 83.67 kDa and mytimacin-AF proteins has moleculer weights of 9,7 kDa. Protein has unstable properties. The formulation SNE (self-nano emulsion) method is a stable delivery system. The purpose of this study isto formulate snail mucus protein into SNE and optimize SNE formulation comprising Capryol® 90, Kolliphor® EL and PEG 400. The hydrophobic ion pairing technique isused to obtain snail mucus protein. This study used the method D-Optimal mixture design with combination of capryol® 90, kolliphor® EL and PEG 400 and tested the characterization of emulsification time, the determination of drug loading, and percent transmittance. The result showed that snail mucus has been incorporated in SNE by hydrophonic on pairing method. The selected optimum formula of SNEDDS snail mucus selected was Capryol® 90 for 1 parts, Kolliphor® EL for 5 parts, and PEG 400 for 4 parts with emulsification time 25,53 seconds ,percent transmittan 84,19% and drug loading is more than 10 %.
