Abstract
Hair loss is an emotionally disease. Traditionally hibiscus leaves were used as cosmetics that can nourish hair. In this study, we determine the physical stability and hair growth promotion activity of hibiscus leaf extract and mucus in the form of hair tonic. Physical stability tests were measured for pH, viscosity, specific gravity for three weeks and cycling test. Hair growth promotion activity assay was carried out by applying hair tonic on the rabbit’s back and measured hair length and hair weight. Results of stability test showed extract and mucus of hibiscus leaf hair tonic has good physical stability. Hair tonic which showed the best results is hair tonic with extract of hibiscus leaf was equivalent to positive control. Keywords: hibiscus leaf extract, mucus, hair tonic
