Abstract

Sepsis is the result of an infection response that results in a malfunctioning of life threatening organs. The incidence of sepsis has continued to increase over the past three decades. Giving antibiotics quickly and precisely can reduce mortality in sepsis. The purpose of this study was to determine the pattern of antibiotic use in sepsis patients and determine the accuracy of the use of antibiotics in the treatment of sepsis patients in the instalation care room at RSUD Dr. Soehadi Prijonegoro Sragen. This research was a non-experimental research with cross sectional research method, was retrospective. Data analysis was performed using univariate analysis. Evaluation of antibiotic evaluation based on the Gyssens method, a qualitative evaluation methods that contain categories to determine the appropriate use of antibiotics. The result of analysis of 35 medical record data based on patient characteristics, the most sex is female as much as 65,7%; the highest age category >46 years is 80%; length of stay for 1 – 10 day is 65,7%; grade of sepsis that is 94,2%; the condition of the patient when he died as much as 54,3%; most comorbidities, namely diabetes militus as much as 17,1%. The most widely used type of antibiotics for sepsis patients is Ceftriaxone by 32,4%. The quality of the use antibiotics by the Gyssens method of category 0 was 62,2%; category IIA as much as 11,1%; category IIIB 8,9%; category IVA by 15,5%; category IVB as much as 2,3%.
