Abstract

Squalene compound (2,6,10,15,19,23-hexamethyl-6,6,10,14,18,20-tetracosahexane) is a triterpene polyhydrocarbon group compound formed from six isoprene units. This study used basil (Ocimum basilicum L) extracted by sonication yield values, namely 58.65 (n-hexane); 75.04 (ethyl acetate); and 68.67% (ethanol 96%). The specific gravity value obtained was 0.7272 (n-hexane); 1.0127 (ethyl acetate); and 0.8127 g / mL (96% ethanol). The energy required to extract is obtained 15,024 (n-hexane); 18,271 (ethyl acetate); and 15,420 joules (96% ethanol). The method of separating squalene in suitable natural material samples uses solid phase extraction and gravity column chromatography methods. Determination of levels of squalene using gas chromatography produced the highest concentration, namely extra virgin olive oil with a range from 0.81 to 1.02 g / 100 g. Keywords: squalene, sonication, separation, squalene content
