Abstract
Degenerative diseases such as diabetes mellitus can cause liver tissue damage. One of the traditional plants that can provide hepatoprotector activity is jamblang leaves (Syzygium cumini L.). Jamblang leaves contain flavonoids, tannins, and anthraquinones which can provide protection against liver cells. This study aims to determine the ethanol extract of jamblang leaves has hepatoprotector activity induced by carbon tetrachloride (CCl4). The research was conducted using 30 rats divided into 6 groups. Normal control group, negative control, positive control, extract group 75 mg / kg, 150 mg / kg, 300 mg / kg body weight. Induction of CCl4 0.7 ml / 200gram BW of the rats was given orally after 16 hours of treatment on the 7th day for 3 days. On the 11th day the blood of the rats was taken and the SGOT and SGPT levels were checked. Literature review of phytochemical screening and quality standardization of jamblang leaves and liver histopathology of jamblang plants was carried out by qualitative methods using international journals indexed by Scopus published between 2010-2020. The results of the study showed that the effective dose of jamblang leaf which had hepatoprotector activity was 75mg / kg rat body weight and a literature review of phytochemical screening and quality standardization of jamblang leaves showed that jamblang leaf has a compound that has the potential to be a hepatoprotector and liver histopathology of jamblang plant can repair induced liver damage.CCl4. Keywords: Jamblang leaves (Syzygium cumini L.); literature review; SGOT; SGPT
